Toyota is extremely well-known for its Prius Hybrid model. This type of hybrid vehicle combines electrified battery power and gas power to move a vehicle, and the battery is recharged through braking regeneration. Toyota has an incredibly diverse lineup of hybrid models today including cars, SUVs, and minivans. Currently, there are hybrid variants of popular models suchs as the Highlander Hybrid, Corolla Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid, and Avalon Hybrid. There's even a hybridized engine option available on the new Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Dedicated hybrid models include the Toyota Prius, Toyota Venza, and the Toyota Sienna minivan.

Toyota Plug-In Hybrid Models

Toyota also sells plug-in hybrid vehicles, which are sometimes referred to as PHEVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles). These vehicles also utilize a gas engine and an electric battery. However, the battery is typically larger than a standard hybrid, and it's recharged through a plug-in charging cable. These vehicles feature both a gas door and an electric charging port. The larger battery enables plug-in hybrid vehicles to have some amount of all-electric driving range. Current Toyota plug-in hybrid models include the Prius Prime and the RAV4 Prime.

Toyota Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles are run completely on electricity and battery power. Toyota is getting ready to introduce the all-new 2023 bZ4X electric SUV. Electric vehicles are often referred to as zero-emissions vehicles, and they are known for their quiet operation and zippy acceleration from a stop. Like plug-in hybrid vehicles, the battery for an electric vehicle is charged through a plug-in charging cable. However, EVs only feature a door for a charging port as they do not have a gas tank at all.
