2020 Toyota Highlander vs 2020 Honda Pilot

Serving Clarksville, IN

With a full redesign for the latest model year, the 2020 Toyota Highlander is better than ever. This year, the 2020 Toyota Highlander sports a savvy new look with a modernized exterior and a refreshed cabin that is more comfortable, spacious, and tech-savvy. A quiet ride and comfortable interior are highlights of the latest Highlander, which is also longer than its predecessor, giving you more space for people and belongings. While the 2019 edition had 13.8 cubic feet of space, this year's Highlander gets 16 feet of cargo space and more space throughout its interior for passengers. The latest Highlander is outfitted with several upscale materials, giving the interior an overall refined and elegant appearance. Now, you can even get an infotainment system sized up to 12.3 inches. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now standard, and the base trim gets a boost of power with a V6 engine. While the Toyota Highlander has many new features, the Honda Pilot remains mostly the same. In contrast to the Highlander, the Pilot has a narrower third-row of seats and less intuitive safety features.

With its makeover for 2020, the Toyota Highlander naturally gets an updated exterior appearance. Now, the Highlander receives a more sophisticated and refined look with many notable amenities. From bold LED headlights to large 20-inch wheels that are standard on the top trim, the 2020 Toyota Highlander is ready for anything. Starting with the second trim level, you'll get even more amenities, including standard LED fog lights and a power-adjustable liftgate. A sunroof and roof rails are standard starting with the third trim level. The Honda Pilot doesn't offer roof rails or a sunroof until much farther up the line, and its overall design is more basic and less sophisticated than the Highlander's.

Safety & Technology

Even at the base level, the 2020 Toyota Highlander comes equipped with many safety and technology features. The base trim offers Toyota's signature Safety Sense package with several driver-assist safety aids, including forward collision alert, lane-keep assist, and lane departure warning. An eight-inch display screen is standard, too. With the 2020 Honda Pilot, you get fewer features and a smaller five-inch infotainment system. While you can upgrade to a 12.3-inch display screen with the Highlander, you only get an eight-inch infotainment system at most with the Pilot.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander also excels in the area of performance. This year, the four-cylinder base engine has been eliminated to give the lower-level trims more power. Now, a hefty 3.5L engine with six cylinders is standard on all trims. This engine, which is matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, generates 295 HP and 263 LB-FT of torque. The Honda Pilot's engine, in contrast, only produces 280 HP and less torque. While the Toyota Highlander offers an eight-speed transmission on all trims, you only get a six-speed transmission at the base level of the 2020 Honda Pilot. The 2020 Highlander is also provided with an all-wheel-drive for optimal performance.
