Ā What's New for the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?
The Toyota Highlander was introduced to Clarksville-area drivers in 2006 as an impressive option, and this three-row SUV has evolved impressively over the years. The lineās fourth generation, including both the gas-powered Highlander and the Highlander Hybrid, was introduced in 2020. The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid holds unique appeal with introducing the Bronze Edition trim level. The new option takes its place in the middle of the lineup. The options are the LE, the XLE, the Bronze Edition, the Limited, and the Platinum from the base trim up. If you opt for the Bronze Edition, your Highlander Hybrid will be outfitted with bronze interior stitching, graphite-colored seats, bronze accents throughout the interior and exterior, bronze doorsill lights, and bronze-colored 18-inch wheels.
All trim levels have extraordinary exterior styling that balances strong accentuation and contemporary appeal. A blue-accented Toyota logo tops the small, black grille on the nose. The angled LED headlights have a wing-like expanse, and they are placed over sporty air vents. These vents carry round foglamps with blue illumination. On the side, you will find a tapered roof that trends into a spoiler, raked rear windows, and solid molding that reaches over the rear fenders.
The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid interior continues to have a linear flow through the dashboard with a prominent, molded center stack. The stackās main feature is a large display screen in an arrow-shaped port. Base equipment in the Highlander Hybrid for 2022 includes a three-zone climate control system, a 4.2-inch digital display for the driverās instruments, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and a power liftgate. Standard safety tech includes:
- Road sign assist
- A lane-keeping system
- Forward collision mitigation
- Blind-spot detection
- Adaptive cruise control
As you walk up the trim line, the Highlander Hybrid adds equipment like heated seats, a heads-up display, a surround-view camera, a panoramic sunroof, and more.
Regardless of the Highlander Hybrid trim you select, your SUV will receive 243 total horsepower from a hybrid 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The SUV is offered with front-wheel and all-wheel drive, and its engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission.

1. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Ownerās Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. āAdded vehicle equipmentā includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicleās exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo. [Calculated with the new SAE J2807 method.] See Ownerās Manual for limitations.
2. Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and distribution. Always properly secure cargo and cargo area.
