Toyota Dashboard Indicators
Your Toyota vehicle has been designed with the highest quality and attention to detail, to include dashboard indicator lights that can alert you to potential issues that require maintenance or repair to your Toyota car, truck, or SUV. We are always available to answer any questions you have about Toyota dashboard lights, to include check engine lights, low tire pressure, trac inop, ABS, and more. Call us at the number below, or
schedule your appointment online
and we can fix your Toyota.
Toyota Check Engine Light
The check engine light or service your engine light on your dashboard can mean several different things, many of which are minor, but some of which can be serious. It does not mean that you should over-react and immediately pull over, but it is definitely something you should not ignore. Indicator lights in your Toyota might show "check engine", "service engine soon", or "check powertrain".
The check engine light is part of Toyota's onboard diagnostics system, and it will illuminate when the computer in your Toyota finds a problem in the electronic control system that it cannot correct. When the check engine light comes on, a trouble code is stored in your Toyota's onboard computer that one of our Toyota service reps can read with an electronic scan tool or diagnostic computer that we keep as a Certified Toyota Service and Auto Repair center.
There are multiple items that can set off the check engine light, including a loose fuel cap, low oil pressure, an engine misfire, and more. Owners should consult the Toyota Owner's Manual for potential issues with their specific vehicle.
What should you do if you get a check engine light in your Toyota? Try tightening your gas cap, this often solves the problem. Toyota directs that you have your vehicle checked by a trained Toyota mechanic to identify and fix any problems. Ignoring the problem can potentially lead to major damage that can cost you a lot of money. Call us or schedule an appointment online and we will assist you promptly. We can also reset your Toyota check engine light at that time.
Toyota Low Tire Pressure Light
The low tire pressure warning light indicates that one or more of your Toyota's tires are 25% or more below Toyota's recommended tire pressure. Having your tires properly inflated is incredibly important for safe driving - and it also improves your fuel efficiency. The solution is to check each of your tire's pressure and to inflate them if they are low. Your Toyota's recommended tire pressure is located on the inside of your driver door jamb. If you still have the low tire pressure light after properly inflating all tires, you might need for one of our Toyota service reps take a look at your vehicle to see if there is a bad valve stem or something else.
Toyota ABS Light
Your Toyota ABS light will illuminate when you start your vehicle, and then should turn off. If it stays on, you might have an issue with your antilock brakes. If the ABS light comes on, this will typically disable your antilock brakes. You can still brake your car, but the antilock feature will not be available in an emergency situation. If your brake light comes on with the ABS light, you have a serious problem, and your vehicle is not safe to drive. Have your brakes inspected by a Toyota mechanic immediately.
When the ABS light is triggered, a code is stored in your Toyota's onboard computer. Our Toyota service rep can retrieve the ABS code and pinpoint the problem, and repair your Toyota as needed.
Toyota Trac Inop Light
Toyota's traction control helps you maintain traction on wet, icey, loose or uneven surfaces. There are complex wheel speed sensors that will trigger the traction control safety feature as needed. If you see the trac inop light illuminate, this feature might be disabled. A Toyota service rep can access the trouble code and identify what is needed to fix any potential issues.
